Without a doubt, Friends is one of the greatest shows of the past thirty years. Not only did the show make fans laugh and cry, but the cast quickly became style icons of the ’90s. Now, Friends-fanatics can finally dress like Rachel, thanks to Ralph Lauren’s Friends’ Collection!
A Fitting Tribute To Rachel Green
In case you don’t remember, on the show Friends, one of the main characters, Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston), actually worked at Ralph Lauren, so the company is a perfect fit for a Friends fashion line. The collection, titled “The One Where They Wore Ralph Lauren,” marks the first partnership between Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Bloomingdales, which now owns Ralph Lauren.
Unfortunately, male fans of Friends won’t be able to dress like the characters they love. Neither will fans who prefer Monica or Pheobe, because the line focuses on Rachel and Rachel only. The models in the photos seen on Ralph Lauren’s website not wearing the Friends-line are simply wearing other Ralph Lauren items. “The collection is a celebration of the brand’s role in the series,” the statement of the brand said. “Just as Friends proved to be a perennial favorite series for viewers over the last 25 years, this collection reflects Ralph Lauren’s timeless styles and archetypes that have remained a go-to for the modern working woman.”

Ralph Lauren decided to launch their new Friends line in the most fantastic way: the company released a series of photos and videos featuring models in the most iconic Friends locations. The models, many wearing the new line, start at Monica and Rachel’s apartment before moving on to the Central Perk coffee shop, and, finally, the famous fountain from the opening credits.
Then, on the first day that the new Friends line launched, Ralph Lauren also had a big day at the company’s flagship shop in New York City. There, they made a full-sized recreation of Central Perk that the public could visit. They even had a real-life barista, so fans could grab a coffee or team, just like the television show! Meanwhile, of course, the store also had all the new pieces on display and available for purchase.
Friends-Mania Will Never End
Even though the show ended nearly 20 years ago, Friends remains as popular as it ever has been. Over the years, plenty of other companies have also produced Friends related gear, including Balenciaga infamously creating Joey Tribbiani’s iconic layered outfit. The company made it into one coat last year and never mentioned the series. However, fans knew what the inspiration for the jacket was!
The mania continues, as in 2019 alone, Pottery Barn, ASOS and H&M all debuted Friends-themed merchandise. These days, fans can purchase anything from a t-shirt with all the characters on it to jigsaw puzzles and board games. Perhaps the stranges item of all was Pottery Barn’s Friends-themed coffee table, which they named “The One with the Apothecary Table.” LEGO even create a Lego version of Central Perk! There seems to be no end to the type of merchandise Friends fans will buy – wonder what they will come out with next?
