Mother’s Day is almost here, and if you are still scrambling for a gift idea, don’t stress. You don’t need to spend big to make something meaningful. In fact, all you need is a quick Dollar Tree run and a glue gun. That is it!
Thanks to TikToker @bargainbethany, there is a DIY Mother’s Day gift idea that is not only personal but also ridiculously easy to pull off. She shared a sweet little project using Dollar Tree picture frames, which turns into a photo-filled flower vase. It is thoughtful, cute, and guaranteed to make any mom tear up.
Start With the Right Frames and Photos
First things first: Grab four matching picture frames. Bethany used 4×6 white distressed frames from Dollar Tree, and they worked perfectly. Make sure they are all the same style to keep the final look clean.
You will also need to pick out four photos. These can be of you and your mom, your siblings, your grandkids, whoever brings her joy.

Slide one photo into each frame. The idea is to give her a 360-degree view of love. You are basically building a cube of memories.
Glue It Together Into a Memory Cube
Stand the frames up and glue the edges together to form a square. Hold each corner in place for a few seconds until the glue sets. It doesn’t take long. After the last frame is glued, you will have an open-topped box with pictures on all four sides.
Now for the base. Flip the frame cube upside down onto a piece of cardboard and trace around it. Cut the cardboard out and glue it to the bottom. This will be the base that holds the flowers, so make sure it is secure.
Add the Floral Foam
Once the base is dry, hot glue a piece of floral foam into the bottom of your cube. This is where the flower magic happens. You can also find flower foam at Dollar Tree. It is usually in the craft or garden section.
Now for the best part: Flowers. You can use faux or fresh blooms, depending on your mom’s style. If you are going the fake flower route, pick soft colors like blush pink, lavender, or white for a romantic feel.
Cut the stems short so they fit nicely in the vase, and start arranging.
Use Real or Faux Flowers for a Beautiful Finish

If you are using real flowers, you will want to put a small container inside the foam to hold water. A mason jar or an old yogurt cup can work. Anything that fits without being seen. Stick the flowers in and fluff them up so they look full and happy.
And you are done! Just like that, you have made a heartfelt Mother’s Day gift that costs less than $10 and looks like something from a boutique. It has got photos, flowers, and your own effort.
Add a Personal Touch
You can also customize the look. Want to make it colorful? Paint the frames before gluing. Want a rustic vibe? Use twine or lace around the top edge. Add a name tag, a ribbon, or even a little handwritten note. There are no rules.
And here is the kicker! This is not just a one-day gift. Once the flowers fade (if you used real ones), the vase still stands. It becomes a decor piece she can keep on a shelf, a desk, or by the window. A gift that keeps on giving.
