Earlier this year, just before coronavirus broke out, Gwyneth Paltrow and her company Goop launched her new makeup line. And how did she celebrate? Paltrow threw a no-makeup party for all her celebrity friends. Now, the photos from that day have finally come out! Here’s what went down at the luxurious event…
Gwyneth Paltrow No Makeup Party
What was the last party you went to before the pandemic broke out? Maybe a birthday party or boring work gig? Well, if you were among the invitees to Gwyneth Paltrow’s no makeup party, you were one of the luckiest people in the world!
Of course, you probably know Paltrow from her roles on the silver screen, in films like The Royal Tenenbaums and Iron Man. However, you might not know that the actress also runs her own wellness company, Goop. The company, which creates natural beauty and “organic healing” products, launched a new luxury makeup line, Goop Glow, earlier this year. To celebrate, Paltrow amd Goop threw an appropriately themed bash, where guests were asked to come makeup-free, glowing in their natural state!
Inside The No Makeup Party
In celebration of the launch of Goop Glow, Paltrow themed the dinner as a “glow dinner.” It took place at an incredible private mansion in the heart of Beverly Hills, and, as you might imagine, each quest was as luxurious as the location. Attendees included actres Demi Moore, her daughter Rumer Willies, Kate Hudson, among many other TV and movie stars. Famous jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer and fashion designer Rachel Zoe also joined the dinner, representing a more business-oriented side
The dinner also included a talk with artist Alexandra Grant, conducted by Paltrow. After the event, the host posted a few glimpses online. “”About last night… had the immense pleasure of interviewing @grantalexandra one of THE most brilliant, expansive, talented thinkers I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with,” she captioned the photos. “A beautiful gathering in celebration of beauty just the way we come.”
According to Grant’s Instagram, the talk focused on “being creative, the importance of mentorship and collaboration, building positive identities for a more equal world, and of course, LOVE!” Designer Zoe wrote on her page. “Thank you for encouraging confidence in being our most natural selves at every age.”
Goop Backlash
While many love Goop, the company has received some backlash over the past few years. The company sells products like “Wearable Stickers that Promote Healing (Really!)” As you might imagine, many have scrutinized for not showing any actual data to support their claims. Furthermore, many have started criticizing the beauty icon for her makeup line. After all, if Paltrow believes natural is beautiful, why create a makeup line?
Well, likely because, lately, many celebrities have started their own makeup lines. Everyone from Lady Gaga and Tyra Banks to Millie Bobby Brown and Jessica Alba have all come out with their own makeup products in the past few years. Meanwhile, the beauty industry remains one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, grossing a whopping $93.5 billion in 2019 in the U.S alone. It’s no wonder Paltrow wanted a chunk of that market! Hopefully, her consumers are well educated on her products and will consult their doctor for any mental or physical health issues.
