These days, it’s easy to dismiss generosity and miracles as things of fantasy. However, there’s one masked man out there trying to prove that good things can really happen to anyone! He’s been simply giving out $100 bills to strangers on the street! Read on to discover why one man decided to become a masked hero…
Dr. MooMoo And His Generosity
Never heard of Dr. MooMoo? Well, if you’re from Kansas City, Missouri, or just stop there while traveling, it’s possible you might run into him! The iconic YouTube hero simply wears a flower-print mask and a quirky outfit consisting of sneakers, a suit, and a hat. While he might look a supervillain, he only has good intentions! On random days, Dr. MooMoo helps others by handing out $100 bills and Little Debbie snack cakes to those he thinks are in need.
“I’m not doing this because I want a pat on the back,” Dr. MooMoo said in an interview. “I’m doing this because I want to help. I know sorrow because of my life and, I guess, I don’t want other people to experience that.” Even though he’s doing all this for the best, a few people always find his tactics a bit strange. “Mostly people love it, although some adults will shy away. Kids are never afraid.” But how did this character come to be? Well, it actually all started in tragedy.
A Haunting Past
Unfortunately, Dr. MooMoo, whose real identity is 60-year-old chiropractor David McGee, experienced a hard life from the beginning. Growing up in poverty and abuse, McGee essentially never experienced happiness during his childhood. The only thing that brought him any real joy were Little Debbie snack cakes, in which he found rescue. Then, just when it seemed like things couldn’t get any worse, McGee’s mother committed suicide and his father abandoned him, all before the age of 13.
However, while most children would never be able to bring themselves back from such a tragedy, McGee found a way through. In the years following his mother’s passing and father’s departure, he developed a new hobby: making people happy and giving them hope, in any way he could. While McGee has always enjoyed making people happy, it was 35 years ago that he created the Dr. MooMoo character…
How Dr. MooMoo Came To Be
In real life, McGee simply loves cows. In fact, Dr. MooMoo started as a nickname his patients gave him, as he had multiple pieces of cow artwork up in his office. Then, his patience started getting him cow-themed gifts. Eventually, McGee realized the nickname could be the perfect character to go out into the world and spread some good cheer.
Why Little Debbie cakes and $100 bills? Well, Little Debbie helped McGee through his hard times. Meanwhile, the $100 notes represent what McGee could have always used growing up: a helping hand. Meanwhile, the generous man doesn’t care what people do with the money. “Just that happy moment you get from receiving it, that’s all I’m concerned about,” McGee said. “I’m not concerned with what you’re going to do with it. If you want to buy a gallon of vodka, if that’s what makes you happy, I don’t care. What makes me happiest and gives me the most joy is when I see that spark in their eye, and they shed a tear — seeing an emotion that knows their soul is touched. That’s the whole purpose.”
Dr. MooMoo doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon, so keep an eye out for him if you ever find yourself in Kansas City, Missouri!
