A new year means new movies! While the coronavirus might have pushed some of these release dates back, these are the most anticipated movies of 2020!
No Time to Die
One of the first films to lose a release date due to the coronavirus, the new James Bond film, No Time to Die, will now come out in the fall of 2020, instead of summer. The extra wait will make saying goodbye to actor Daniel Craig even harder, as this will be his last turn as James Bond. Meanwhile, Rami Malek will appear as the film’s villain, rounding out a spectacular cast. Behind the scenes, Craig asked that award-winning actress and writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the mind behind Fleabag, to co-write the script, making her the second-ever woman to help write a Bond film. With that cast and crew, what can go wrong?
Black Widow
Will Black Widow head straight to Disney’s streaming service, Disney+? Only time will tell, but as of right now, the company still plans on releasing in theaters in early November, given no second wave of COVID-19. Black Widow, starring Scarlett Johansson in the titular role as always, will jump backward in time and focus on Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow returning to face her Russian past. Without a doubt, fans are excited to see this new chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and if Johansson can hold a film on her own.
Top Gun: Maverick
That’s right! In case you hadn’t heard, a new Top Gun is coming your way this summer! After more than three decades, fans will return to the skies alongside Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connolly, and many others. In June, Cruise will take on the role of Navy pilot Maverick once more in Top Gun: Maverick. However, this time around, the trainee has become the trainer, and he will take Goose’s sun under his wing. Unfortunately, few other original cast members will return, and Connolly will take on the part of the love interest this time around. However, fear not: Val Kilmer will return as Iceman!
Wonder Woman 1984
Most of the DC Cinematic Universe has failed to keep up with its Marvel counterparts. All except for Wonder Woman, that is! So fans are earlegly awaiting the newly decided August release date of Wonder Woman 1984! Israeli superstar Gal Gadot will return in her role as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, and so too will Chris Pratt. Meanwhile, megastars Pedro Pascal and Kristin Wiig will portray the films, colorful villains. Hopefully, this proves to be another hit for DC!
Bill And Ted Face The Music
Its been a long while since most have seen these characters on their screen! In fact, the previous Bill and Ted movie came out last century! Now, it seems, fans have waited long enough as the newest installment, Bill And Ted Face The Music, will debut in August with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprising their iconic roles. However, this time, they’ve got responsibilities: they have daughters! Its clear Universal is trying to make this a cross-generational hit, and we hope it works out for them!
Of course, these dates could continue to change, given the coronavirus. Hopefully, 2020 will still be an incredible year for movies!
