Usually, people go viral on TikTok for some pretty eye-rolling worthy reasons, like the latest viral dance or dumb joke. However, one nurse from Arizona recently became popular on the social media platform for saving her neighbors’ lives!
Hanging By A Thread
Carolyn Palisch works as a nurse in Arizona. Still, despite working as a frontline medical worker, she never expected she would save her neighbors Nicole and David Salgado from a fire on a New Year’s Day! It all started one quiet morning as Palisch got ready for work. That’s when she noticed smoke billowing from her neighbors’ lawn. The amazing woman she is, the nurse did not wait a moment to run out of the house and begin pounding on the Salgado’s door. As she pounded harder and harder, Palisch started screaming and ringing the doorbell as well. “Get out. It’s on fire,” the brave nurse shouted. Of course, when the Salgados ran out, the incredible neighbor told them they had a place to go: “It’s ok. You guys can go to my house.”
Thankfully, the Salgado’s security camera caught the heroic action. Later Nicole and David Salgado found out just how close they came to a terrible end. “The firefighters said that if we didn’t get out when we did, we wouldn’t have made it out alive. We are so grateful to this angel that saved our lives,” Nicole wrote when she published the video online. Nicole just wanted Palisch to earn the praise she deserved. However, no one knew how big the video would become. It garnered 30 million views and thousands of comments in just a few days!
Meanwhile, Palisch says it feels good to know she’s helped the world once again. “I’ve been a nurse for 40 years and you hope that you’ve always done good for everyone but to actually see the result and to see them alive and well and their children are here. Can’t ask for nothing else,” she said. However, believe it or not, this incredible story does not end there…
Unconditional Support From Over The World
While many loved seeing the video of Palisch saving the Salgado family and their pets, many wondered what happened to the house. So, Nicole posted another video confirming the worst: the fire took not only the home but almost every belonging they had. Thankfully, someone quickly started a GoFundMe page to help the family.
“2021 started in the worst way possible,” the fundraising page reads. “Nicole and David woke up to loud banging on the front door. Their neighbor was alerting them that the house was on fire. Thank God everyone was able to get out safely, but unfortunately they have lost everything. David and Nicole along with their 4 children will have to start fresh. I ask that you please consider donating to help them find a new home and get the basic necessities for their family. Everything is appreciated! God Bless!”
It’s not all bad news, however. Incredibly, as of this writing, people have raised over $50,000 for the family. “First of all we can’t express how grateful we are to every single one of you,” Nicole wrote in a post to the GoFundMe recently. “We have been touched by everyone’s love and support, not only the donations but also all of you kind strangers that just want to know how we are. We are doing ok, the kids are of course a little traumatized but they are resilient and strong kids.” If you would like to help the Salgados, just as the heroic Carolyn Palisch did, head over to their GoFundMe and donate what you can.
