Thankfully, more and more people realize that it’s much better to adopt animals then pick them up from breeders. Hence the motto “Adopt, Don’t Shop!” Now, a Flordia brewery has put the faces of shelter dogs on beer cans to improve adoption rates in their state even more!
Special Dog Adoption Four-Pack
The company behind this initiative, Motorworks Brewing from Bradenton, Florida, wanted to do something to help even more shelter dogs find homes. So, they asked a local shelter for pictures of their dogs that needed homes. Then, they put the images on a brand-new four-pack of beer they plan on selling. Meanwhile, on the other side of the can, there’s more information about the dog’s past and preferences. Motorworks Brewing hopes that by selling these cans, they can hope to not only find forever homes for these furry friends but also raise money to build a bigger, better shelter.
To release this brand new beer, the Brewery held a “Yappy Hour,” where the shelter brought along puppies that needed homes. There, the company sold over 150 four-packs of the unique beer! When Motorworks decided to post about the four-packs and event on their Facebook, they had no idea the type of response they’d receive…
An Overwhelming Response
While Motorworks Brewing always hoped people would love the shelter dogs four-pack, they had no idea that the internet’s response would overtake them! “The response from this project has been overwhelming,” said the Brewery’s director of sales and marketing Barry Elwonger. “We have had countless calls and messages about the program and we are elated to have raised so much awareness (and money) for the shelter already.”
As of this writing, the company has raised thousands for shelter and earned just as many comments on their Facebook page. In fact, thanks to the Motorworks Brewing, there will be a new shelter in Bradenton! So, everyone’s wondering: what comes next?
Motorworks Brewing’s Future Plans
What about plans for the Brewery? Well, the last shelter dogs cans are selling out. After the significant success, they want to produce more beer cans with animals from local shelters on them. “We had a small amount of leftover labels from the initial run and since we have received so many requests from customers outside of our area we thought selling the labels themselves would be another way to raise funds, which it seems like it will be,” Elwonger said.
Some customers outside the official brewing area asked if they could order some cans of beer. Unfortunately, it’s illegal to ship the cans, so ordering the labels is another fantastic way of gathering more funds!
