If you travel frequently, you know that the freebies often pile up. There are lots of little snacks, clippers, and tiny bottles of hotel toiletries that fill up a vacation bag. But don’t rush and just throw them away! Almost all saved hotel toiletries can serve another purpose!
Don’t Take Them
This is the easiest and most straightforward way to stop accumulating hotel toiletries: stop taking them! After all, no one needs to take them just because they’re free. Instead, consider just leaving the hotel toiletries in the room next time. Not only will you save room on your own shelves, but the hotel won’t need to replace them, which will cut down on overall waste.
Donate
“…if you’re feeling benevolent, grab the toiletries every day and stick them in your luggage. They’ll get replenished every day, so keep taking them and then donate them to shelters. Shelters ALWAYS need toiletries,” Twitter user JulieSLalonde shared. Donating toiletries to people in need will always be one of the best ways to reuse those little bottles! Most shelters, food pantries, and similar non-profits can always use more shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste, and much more. Plus, it means you only need to make one trip to get rid of your hotel toiletries!
Take Them To The Gym
If the gym is a regular part of your schedule, hotel toiletries can make taking a shower there so much easier! After all, no one wants to lug around a large shampoo bottle in their workout bag. Throw a couple little bottles in a workout bag and then get your sweat on. Plus, now you’ll always be able to help out a friend if they forget theirs! And, if you ever accidentally leave it in the show, no worries – it was free!
Keep Them For Camping
Like the gym, there are certain types of traveling where amenities are not always guaranteed. Camping or surfing on a friend’s couch, for instance. In cases like these, taking some of those stored up hotel toiletries works perfectly! As mentioned, they don’t take up that much space, and now, you don’t have to go out and buy a whole new bottle of body wash, just to go on one single vacation.
Use Them At Home
Again, this one might seem too easy; however, far too many people decide to just store their hotel toiletries in a drawer instead of using them. Next time, instead of going out and buying a new bottle of shampoo, take a look through your drawers. You likely have enough toiletries to get you through the next week, if not the next year! Not only will you save money, but the samples are often much better than what the majority of us put in our hair every day.
