In just a short time, Disney+ has become one of the biggest streamers in town. Now, it plans to expand its empire. Disney+ just announced release dates for Loki, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and other highly anticipated shows!
Disney Brings Back Loki
That’s right! The beloved quirky Loki is coming back in green to the screen, although the small screen this time around. Still, according to the trailers, he’s even stronger and funnier than before. Originally announced back in 2019, fans now know that Loki, the third of Marvel’s live-action Disney+ shows, will come a little late. Although initially meant to debut in May, Loki will now debut on June 11. So mark your calendars!
And, yes, the one and only Tom Hiddleston will return. At Comic-Con in 2019, Hiddleston said the show would see his character change. “You guys saw Avengers, right? So he’s still that guy. And just about the last thing that happened to him was he got Hulk-smashed. So there’s a lot of psychological evolution that is still yet to happen,” he said. “This is new territory, a new world, new challenges, and I cannot wait to get started.”
Of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t the only one receiving the small screen treatment…
Bad Batch Release Dates
Of course, The Mandalorian has earned the love and adoration of Star Wars fans the world over. Now, a new Star Wars animated series is coming to Disney+. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere May 4, officially known as Star War Day. The series will serve as a direct sequel to the hit Star Wars animated series The Clone Wars from the early 2000s. When Disney purchased the Star War universe in 2012, they also picked up the original show. Now, the Mouse will produce the sequel that so many fans have clamored for.
Specifically, The Bad Batch will focus on a skilled group of clones that rebelled and decided not to harm the Jedi. Thanks to the success The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch is the first in a long line of planned Star Wars shows Disney+ has planned. Others include a show based on the character of Ahsoka Tano, a trilogy of television movies about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and another new show, Rangers of the New Republic. So far, only The Bad Batch has earned a release date.
She-Hulk And Moon Knight
Love Marvel superhero movies? Well, you’re in luck! Loki and the current smash hit Wandavision are just two of the Marvel shows that will soon fill Disney+. In addition, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige added that Disney+ will release two more Marvel series soon. These will focus on the characters of She-Hulk and Moon Knight. While they were supposed to go into production this year, they have currently been pushed back due to the coronavirus. Only time will tell if these can manage to get off the ground in a timely fashion.
Believe it or not, Disney has even more Disney+ releases planned: Monsters at Work, a spin-off of Monsters Inc, will debut on July 2, while the Turner & Hooch and Chip n’ Dale reboots debut later that month. How exciting!
